TOPPAN TOPS PIXI’S WITH BEST OF SHOW

Toppan Printing Company America Inc. received the top honor of “Best of Show” at the 2006 Xerox PIXI (Print Innovation with Xerox Imaging) Awards.

Best of Show kudos went to Toppan and Parsons School of Design student/designer Monica Eun-Kyung for her innovative book “Fear.” This chilling book expresses those things that we fear through black and white photography, artwork and fine line graphics. “Fear” was produced on the Xerox iGen3
® Digital Production Press.

The awards ceremony was held October 15 in Chicago at the Graphics Expo. For designer and student Monica Eun-Kyung Yoon, it was an amazing experience. “I still can't really believe that we won for 'Best of Show' …even after we've been to Chicago and received a crystal trophy”, says Monica. “I didn't even expect to win for the second or third place because to me, this book is a very personal book that is like a diary”.

Monica was a student at Parsons The New School of Design in New York. She was working on her thesis and came to Toppan to turn her work into a case bound book. “I'd never thought that this kind of book would win for something at the contest where all the professionals compete,” she added.
