Rights Opportunities for Japanese Publishers
The following European publishers currently have titles for which they are seeking a Japanese home.
NordSüd Verlag was founded in 1961 in Gossau near Zurich Switzerland. During the 1980 the publisher expanded internationally and imprints were founded around the world, 2 of which NorthSouth Books in the USA and Editions NordSud in France are still part of the company.
The focus of NordSüd has always been on picture books and finding and developing the best European illustrators. Many of these, such as Josef Wilkon, Bernadette Watts or Binette Schröder have become known around the world. Two others, Hans de Beer and Marcus Pfister with their characters "The Little Polar Bear" and "The Rainbow Fish", enjoyed even bigger success and are amongst the best-loved and most read picture book authors in the World.
